Jackie Brown was released in theaters on Christmas Day in 1997 – and received critical acclaim upon its premiere.
The project also became a box office success, garnering around $74.7 million on a budget of $12 million.
Along with De Niro – who took on the role of Louis Gara in the film – other stars that were also cast included Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton.
The premise is: ‘A flight attendant with a criminal past gets nabbed by the ATF for smuggling. Under pressure to become an informant against the illegal arms dealer she works for, she must find a way to secure her future without getting killed,’ per IMDB.
Forster received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor based on his performance, while Grier and Jackson garnered Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor.
Uma Thurman – who has appeared in a number of Tarantino’s films over the years, such as Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill franchise – also made an appearance on the red carpet.
She donned a pair of denim jeans as well as a white top and sleeveless, pin-striped vest that was buttoned at the front.
The actress also wore a pair of comfy, black shoes and added a long, pearl necklace to accessorize the ensemble.

She opted for a pair of light blue jeans as well as a hot pink shirt and purple blazer that offered a pop of color to the outfit.
During the event – which is being dubbed ‘De Niro Con’ for its celebration of the iconic actor’s long and successful film career – Robert also took time to speak on stage with Quentin.
While discussing the film, Tarantino told Robert, ‘I felt like I kind of jipped you; (your character) Louis doesn’t have much dialogue,’ per Deadline.
‘It was about posture, mannerism and detail. I think you’re the best actor in the world when it comes to that.’
The director then recalled picking out a watch for De Niro’s character and quickly chose one during a prop day. ‘You’re like “Whoa, whoa that’s too fast, we should look at all of them and we can have a discussion.”‘
‘I’m doing Jackie Brown and I’m a shook up can of soda as a director and I have to have an answer (on things), it doesn’t have to be the right answer.’
Theater director at the Sundance Institute, Ulu Grosbard, had previously given advice to Quentin when it came to directing Robert: ‘Look, once Bobby (De Niro) figures out the shoes the character wants, that’s a big part of the characterization.’
