Nicki Minaj served as the event’s host for the second year in a row. It marked the first year when the event was held on a Tuesday. The 2023 MTV VMAs had it all, and it also had a brand-new award category called Show of the Summer, which was chosen by audience votes.

The WAP colleagues returned and gave fans the first live rendition of their most seductive duet, Bongos.
