The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on September 12, 2023.
Nicki Minaj served as the event’s host for the second year in a row. It marked the first year when the event was held on a Tuesday. The 2023 MTV VMAs had it all, and it also had a brand-new award category called Show of the Summer, which was chosen by audience votes.

The Big Win of Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift broke her record for the most victories at this particular award event by winning nine of the 11 VMAs she was nominated for. The singer was the biggest winner of the night as she walked away with multiple awards for her single Anti-Hero. Swift’s song also received the award of the coveted Video of the Year. She thanked her fans for their love and support during her acceptance speech on stage.
Shakira won everyone over with her medley

Later, she faked a stage malfunction and transitioned into Get Him Back! with a large number of Olivia lookalikes. The singer’s bright red outfit stole the show giving a nostalic touch.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s Performance
The WAP colleagues returned and gave fans the first live rendition of their most seductive duet, Bongos. What caught everyone’s attention was Cardi B descending from the ceiling on a disco ball before the performance. She was later joined by Stallion on the ground with a bunch of brightly attired back dancers.
