Adam Lambert and Helene Fischer’s Epic Duet with Queen on ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ Takes the Stage to Unbelievable Heights!/sondinh/

Adam Lambert has given some incredible performances with Queen, but when he teamed up with Helene Fischer, they brought it to another level! The pair sang a duet with Queen on the band’s 1986 hit “Who Wants to Live Forever.” Lambert opened the power ballad with a delicate and touching vocal over a string part, before Fischer hit the stage and matched him note for note.

The band dropped in next, and Lambert brought the power up to the next level with a soaring vocal near the top of his range. Guitarist Brian May then played an emotional solo over a Roger Taylor drum groove. We know readers will like what happened at the song closer, when Lambert and Fischer sang the big chorus together over the iconic guitar hook. It’s a big ask to sing Freddie Mercury’s vocals, but you couldn’t ask for a better tribute than what these two singers delivered.

Queen and Lambert dropped in to give the performance at The Helene Fischer Show in 2020. The video proved to be quite popular on her YouTube channel, where it drew 3.2 million views. Fans loved the show and showed their appreciation with comments such as “Helene and Adam what a beautiful tribute to Queen and Freddie Mercury” and “His voice, OMG! It reaches the stratosphere and then some. Adam Lambert truly has an otherworldly voice.”

Lambert has given many epic performances with Queen since he began performing with the band in 2012. The English rockers certainly made the right decision by giving the former American Idol star the call. Another great performance from Lambert and Queen is when they rocked “Don’t Stop Me Now” at Buckingham Palace for the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen released “Who Wants to Live Forever” as the sixth single from their 12th studio album, A Kind of Magic. Guitarist Brian May wrote the tune, and the band produced it alongside David Richards. Readers might be interested to know that the song was written for the soundtrack of the Sean Connery film Highlander, which has since become a cult classic. “Who Wants to Live Forever” has also become a classic for Queen fans, as Rolling Stone readers voted it the fifth-best Queen song in 2014. Curiously, the vocals on the film version differ from the album version of “Who Wants to Live Forever.” This is because Mercury provides all the main vocals for the film version, while May sings the first verse on the album version, as well as several other lead lines.
