Barbie made history when the film grossed over $356 million worldwide in its opening weekend around the world, the biggest for any female director. Not only is it continuing to break records day by day, but the film has officially become Margot Robbie’s biggest film to date, with the potential to even cross the $1 billion mark.

Known for her impeccable acting and witty nature, the Australian actress has been making headlines with her pink-clad odyssey. As Barbie continues to gross with each passing day, it has fortunately helped erase Margot Robbie’s career blunder which was previously also her highest-grossing film.

Barbie Is Now Margot Robbie Highest Grossing Film

Among the many films and roles of Margot Robbie, her portrayal of the popular ‘plastic’ doll Barbie has taken the world by storm. Her brilliant acting along with Greta Gerwig‘s master storytelling has led to the film becoming one of the biggest movies of the year as well of Robbie’s career.

While the pink-filled adventure film was speculated to win hearts and become a commercial success, its current box-office gains could not have been predicted. After crossing the $750 million mark and still grossing, Barbie has all the marks of making it to the Billion Dollar Club.

What makes the film perfect is Margot Robbie perfectly conveys the plastic doll’s emotions without going overboard. In her subtle yet loud performance, The Wolf of Wall Street star seamlessly transitions from a ‘plastic’ being to a real human being. And hence, Gerwig’s magical pink-colored tale has easily overshadowed Robbie’s previous highest-grossing film and a box office disaster, Suicide Squad (2016).

The Will Smith starrer film, Suicide Squad (2016) grossed over $747 million worldwide. Despite its massive commercial success, the film was a box-office blunder. Its failure to satisfy the audience and critics is a work of many failing elements such as its disjointed narrative, unsatisfactory editing, weak plot, too many characters, and messy character developments to name a few.

Not only did the film lack a strong narrative, but its painstaking storyline development made it lusterless. While Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn could not have been more perfect, the weak storyline and unclear character development made it hard to follow her.

Even the wide range of characters and Will Smith’s star power failed to make its mark. Barbie’s fortunate climb has thankfully overshadowed the stain Suicide Squad (2016) left on Margot Robbie’s career.

Barbie is in theatres now.
