This season, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been the top two rookies in the WNBA. Despite both players putting together impressive campaigns, fans were displeased in regards to some recent rankings.

In roughly three weeks, the latest installment of the NBA 2K franchise is set to release. Leading up to this, leaks have slowly started to come out involving player’s rankings in the new game.

Earlier this week, the ratings for the top WNBA rookies were released. As expected, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese had the highest. However, fans weren’t happy that both players shared the same overall.

Most of the outrage stemmed from fans who believe that Reese shouldn’t be in the same tier as Clark.

“That’s like giving Andre Drummond and Steph Curry the same rating,” one fan said.

“Angel Reese can’t even hit a layup but she’s ranked the same as Clark who rains down threes??” another fan said.

“That 90 doesn’t make any sense for Angel,” a fan said.

Dating back to their time in college, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been two players regularly talked about together. Their 2K ratings are just the latest instance, with the main discourse being around one WNBA award.

Entering this season, Clark was viewed as the heavy favorite to win Rookie of the Year. However, as the season went along, many agreed that Reese started to close the gap. During her impressive double-double streak, some analysts even claimed that Reese had passed Clark as the ROY frontrunner.

With the WNBA season getting ready to start back up, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will be putting the final touches on their rookie campaign. As things start to come to a close, the ROY discourse is sure to get louder.

Heading into the return, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists. She’s also managed to etch her name in the historic books multiple times with some noteworthy performances.

As for Reese, she has quickly emerged as one of the league’s top rebounders. The Chicago Sky forward is also averaging a double-double for the season with 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds.

Both players have put together strong resumés to be in the ROY conversation, which is why it’s been constantly debated. Securing a spot in the playoffs will help either player’s case, and they both have a chance to pull off this feat.

If the season ended today, Clark and Reese would both play in the postseason as rookies. The Indiana Fever currently sit in seventh place with an 11-15 record. Meanwhile, the Sky are one spot below them in eighth at 10-14.
