An old tweet from NFL insider Adam Schefter about Aaron Donald has resurfaced following the latter announcing his retirement from football.

Donald has called curtains on his NFL career following a 10-year spell with the Los Angeles Rams, having won a Super Bowl with the team in 2022 while being named to eight first-team All-Pro groups and making the Pro Bowl 10 times.

The 32-year-old was the 13th-overall pick in 2014 and his coaches did not need to see him play a single snap in the NFL to realize he was the real deal.

“Just got this text from Rams’ practice: ‘Aaron Donald is unreal,’” Schefter tweeted on July 26, 2014.

The tweet aged very well as it turns out that they were right. Apart from the accolades mentioned above, Donald was named Defensive Player of the Year on three occasions.

The resurrected tweet has caused quite a stir online.

“Tweet made before his rookie season… we all knew he was special from the very first snap in St. Louis. Rams fans nearly started a riot when Jeff Fisher wasn’t starting him his first few games,” one fan wrote.
