Sylvester Stallone is back with the fourth and apparently final installment of his celebrated action franchise, Expendables. The soon-to-be-released movie recently had its early screening and the reactions have not been good so far. Described as ’embarrassing’, ‘cliche’, and ‘weak’, it seems like the weakest one till now.

It’s been a decade since the first Expendables came out, and since then it has only grown in terms of camaraderie ship, star power, and action. However, the newest installment even with an eye-watering budget seems to have missed it all and marks a stark departure from the franchise’s usual fanfare. With these negative views pouring in fast, it is hard to know what the future holds for the franchise.

Sylvester Stallone‘s much-anticipated movie would be hitting the theatres on the 22 of September, but early screening seems to have already given their verdict that the movie is going to be a supposed failure. Boasting an enormous budget of 100 million dollars, the first reactions have not been good.
Expendables 4, after many delays, is back with new casts and an R rating. But so far it has failed to entice its early viewers with many of them remarking that the storyline lacks any intriguing details, has obvious plot turns, and is a laughing riot at best. While many film critics took to Twitter to express their disappointment, CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg tweeted (as per CinemaBlend),
“Ever wonder what the rock bottom nadir of a franchise looks like? Prepare to be stunned by the awfulness of Expend4bles. It has the aesthetics of a 1995 Direct-To-Video movie, and simply describing story/plot developments sounds like mockery. An embarrassment for all involved.”
However, in the sea of negative comments, there were some slight currents of positive reviews stating how video-game lovers would love its ‘nonsensical fun’.

Would Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables 4 Be Able To Recover Its Huge Production Budget?
A still from the movie
Starring Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and even Megan Fox, Expendables 4 is swimming in a sea of negative reviews so far. Numerous film critics and early viewers have remarked on how ‘weak’ the installment is in comparison to other installments. However, among the many negatives, some positive reviews are coming up who seem to enjoy the ‘nonsensical’ dialogues and obvious plot twists and turns.
Some even compared the movie to the hit video game Call of Duty, comparing it to a video game come alive on screen. However, as far as the question of the movie being able to cover its huge production cost is a big ‘if’, for it still hasn’t been released in theatres. Oftentimes despite negative reviews from critics, movies end up being commercial hits, so it would be wise to wait and watch how the franchise fares in theatres.
