Angel Reese is not interested in reading or hearing about any criticism toward Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. Some members of the Sky fanbase want Weatherspoon gone after the team lost their sixth game out of the last 10 on Sunday.

Reese, who is active on social media, sent a stern warning to people who are calling for Weatherspoon to be fired as head coach of the Sky. She won’t tolerate anyone who bad-mouths her coach, who is just in her first season in charge of the franchise.

“One thing I don’t play about is T-Spoon so let’s not even try it. That’s one thing I don’t tolerate like at all,” Reese wrote.

Before accepting the position of head coach for the Chicago Sky, Teresa Weatherspoon was an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA. Weatherspoon began her coaching career for the Westchester Phantoms in the ABA back in 2007.

The five-time WNBA All-Star was at Louisiana Tech from 2008 to 2014 before taking a hiatus from coaching. She returned in 2020 as a member of the Pelicans before signing with the Sky last October.

One of the biggest criticisms Weatherspoon has received from fans is the lack of playing time for Kamilla Cardoso, who was a higher pick than Angel Reese in this year’s WNBA Draft. Cardoso is averaging 8.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game this season.

However, the third overall pick has only played in 14 games due to a preseason injury and has been limited to just 25.4 minutes per game. Fellow rookie Angel Reese is thriving under Weatherspoon, earning a lot of minutes and making records.

Reese now owns the longest double-double streak in WNBA history with 13, surpassing Candace Parker’s record. She’s averaging 14.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 20 games this season.

Angel Reese reacts to being compared to Candace Parker

Following her record-breaking double-double streak, Angel Reese has been compared to Candace Parker, who is considered one of the best players in WNBA history. Reese loves the comparison but knows she’s missing a championship to be even close to Parker’s accomplishments in her career.

“I’ve always respected CP3 and I even try to take some things from her game and try to add them to mine. Being able to be named with an amazing player like that is always going to be special to me. One thing I’ve always looked at her as, is a champion. My big thing is to continue to be named with her, I want to win. Being able to come out and come to Chicago, rep for her city and bring a championship home is what’s going to be important for me and what I look forward to,” Reese said. [H/T Yahoo! Sports]
