The previously unknown author who wrote the book to ‘reinvent the spy genre’ has taken the literary world by storm, with some critics convinced the upcoming thriller was actually written by the Anti Hero hitmaker. has revealed that Elly Conway is not Shake it Off singer but is in fact two people, Australian novelist and screenwriter Terry Hayes and British author of psychological thrillers Tammy Cohen.

Tammy, who wrote When She Was Bad (2016) and They All Fall Down (2017), said: ‘God, I hope all the people that pre-ordered on the basis that Taylor wrote it aren’t disappointed.’

While Terry, 72, who is best known for I Am Pilgrim, quipped: ‘I hope they are! If that’s why they buy a book, they deserve every punishment they get.’ in her feature length acting debut. Apple Original Films has reportedly paid an eye-watering $200 million for it.

But surprisingly little has been shared about Elly, her Instagram account was empty – she only followed one person – her agent Eric Reid.

On the Penguin website, her bio simply read: ‘She lives in the United States and is currently working on the next instalment in the series.
