Patrick MAhomes is excited about his Chiefs’ new teammate
For the Kansas City Chiefs, loading offensive weapons is important. Patrick Mahomes won his third Super Bowl for the team, but he had a below-average receiving corps, which made his life more difficult throughout the season.
The Chiefs had an interesting addition on the roster: former rugby superstar Louis Rees-Zammit joined the team and made an interesting impression, with plenty of Kansas City players already expecting him to remain on the 53-man roster. Even Patrick Mahomes spoke about his new teammate in glowing form:
We’re starting him at running back. He’ll do a lot of special team stuff, and he can actually catch. So it looks different. He catches it like he’s catching a rugby, but he never drops the football, so you don’t complain about it. And I think what’s been the best part about it is he works his tail off. The athletic ability is unreal. He’s got the toughness, but until he gets in the game and understands how to move and how to use that athletic ability, you don’t know exactly where he’s at. But [when] he’s in space, man, he can make stuff happen.

Who is Louis Rees-Zammit’s? Why did the Chiefs sign him?
Louis Rees-Zammit was a star rugby player, but he decided to quit the sport in the past January to try to make it to the NFL. He joined the International Player Pathway (IPP) Program, which allows international players to learn the skills for football and the best players are then selected – many countries had NFL representation with the program.
Which other players could help Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes in their quest for a three-peat?
Wide receivers such as Hunter Renfrow and Michael Thomas certainly have a place on the roster if Kansas City decides to give Mahomes another weapon.
Renfrow’s first three years with the Las Vegas Raiders were spectacular. The receiver had over 1.000 yards in one season and even earned a contract extension. Renfrow is expected to accept a minimum contract full of incentives to get his career back on track.
In 2019, with the New Orleans Saints, Michael Thomas led the league in receptions and yards, but from then on, it was all downhill: only 20 games in four seasons without any significant production.
