Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, both A-list Hollywood stars, share a friendship that many of us admire.

Their friendship is all the more important because it existed before they rose to fame as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s legendary superheroes Black Widow and Captain America, respectively. Their real-life friendship added depth to their on-screen characters, making their interactions onscreen feel more genuine. And what many might not know is that they used to enjoy skinny dipping together, despite the restriction set by the director of the $10 million movie.

By 2004, Scarlett Johansson had established herself as a seasoned actor after beginning her career as a child and making a big impression in films like Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation. She was quickly emerging as the “it” girl in the independent film scene at the age of just 20. Chris Evans was still relatively new to acting at that time and had previously appeared in a short-lived TV series and the teen comedy Not Another Teen Movie.

In the 2004 Brian Robbins-directed teen comedy The Perfect Score, Johansson and Evans first shared the screen. Although there weren’t many one-on-one scenes between their characters in the movie, their chemistry off the screen was immediately apparent. Rumors that they could be dating were fueled by their undeniable good looks and fantastic chemistry.

Interestingly, Brian Robbins, the director of The Perfect Score, believed that Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans were dating due to their on-screen and off-screen chemistry.

Director Brian Robbins thought that the duo were dating because they went skinny dipping together

Some amusing details regarding Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson’s working relationship on the set of The Perfect Score surfaced in a viral YouTube clip by Chris Evans India from director Brian Robbins’ interview. The video starts with a quote from Alexa Demie’s character in Euphoria, stating, “Why does everybody think we f*cked?”

The movie’s director, Robbins, then made an appearance in the video and shared a lighthearted story. He admitted that on the first day of rehearsal, he had playfully set a rule prohibiting Evans and Johansson from sleeping together. Then, with a cheeky hint to possible “skinny dipping” adventures, Robbins said, “I’m not saying anything happened, but… who knows?

Fans and the media have long been speculating about whether there is a deeper connection between them because of their close relationship and apparent chemistry. But both the actors are happily married now so we can put these dating rumors to rest.
