The Duchess has a great regret in her relationship before Prince Harry that things “progressed too fast” with her ex-boyfriend Cory Vitiello, according to a new biography.
Many people know that Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is married to Prince Harry. However, just before she started dating Harry, Meghan was seeing Canadian chef Cory Vitiello.
Meghan was not a high-profile celebrity at the time, so not much was known about her relationship with Vitiello. Some people might wonder: Why did Meghan and Vitiello split up?
How did Meghan Markle and Cory Vitiello meet?
Meghan and Vitiello reportedly met in 2014. According to the Daily Mail, the two hooked up after Meghan wrote a positive review of her Toronto restaurant, The Harbord Room, on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
Why did Meghan Markle and Cory Vitiello split up?
Neither Meghan nor Vitiello have spoken publicly about their relationship. However, the information has leaked here and there.
According to the Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand biography Finding Freedom, to which Meghan contributed, she and Vitiello parted ways due to their differences in commitment level.
“In early 2016, Meghan was confessing to her friends that she regretted how quickly things had progressed with him,” the authors wrote. “That was already obvious to some of her closest friends from the fact that she hadn’t moved in with the chef, Meghan had clung to her rental home. But it wasn’t until early May that they officially ended their two-year romance. ”
Scobie and Durand added: “The problem, according to a source close to the couple, was Cory: he didn’t want to settle down.”
Meanwhile, some sources are allegedly blaming Meghan. According to the book Meghan and Harry: The Real Story by Lady Colin Campbell, Meghan allegedly took credit for a pasta dish created by Vitiello. However, as the Daily Mail said, Vitiello’s mother did not believe it was a true story.
For some viewers, Meghan and Vitiello’s timeline overlaps with her relationship with Harry. There are rumors that she started getting close to Harry while she was still dating Vitiello, while others believe that she and Vitiello had completely separated when she met the prince.
Regardless, Meghan once hinted that her relationship with Harry was a rebound. In an interview, she said, “If you ask my friends, the best way to get over one guy is with another. But my mom says that when your heart breaks, it just opens up to more love. ”
However, in all the times Vitiello has spoken to the press about Meghan, it has been nothing more than supportive of her relationship with Harry. As such, it seems like there are no longer any hard feelings between Meghan and Vitiello.
