Shaquille O’Neal has been very supportive of fellow LSU alumni Angel Reese before she made it to the WNBA. The LA Lakers legend has a soft spot for Reese and doesn’t hesitate to defend her in any conversation.

Today, the Big Diesel shared an Instagram post made by comedian Godfrey in June on his stories. The comedian likened the rivalry between Reese and Caitlin Clark to Beyonce and Taylor Swift, two of the most successful artists in history.

“Angel Reese is the Beyonce of the WNBA. And Caitlin Clark is the Taylor Swift of the WNBA. Oh, don’t tell me that I didn’t make a good analogy because it is perfect. Yo, Angel Reese is letting people know, do not get it twisted. Tickets are selling for the WNBA because of me too. Not just Caitlin Clark. I mean, let’s be real. Hey, I’m a big fan of Angel Reese.”

“She’s bringing elegance to The WNBA. I mean, the WNBA has always had a reputation for, you know, rough chicks, man. Rough on the edges, no disrespect to you ladies, but you know what I’m talking about.

He added:

“You know what I think this is reminding me of? The Taylor Swift-Beyonce rivalry. That’s how I feel. Angel Reese, you let them know. You are the Beyonce,” the comedian said.

O’Neal has supported Reese for a hot minute now, even calling her the greatest athlete out of LSU. Now that she’s playing in the big league, Shaq doesn’t hesitate to hype her up.

Shaquille O’Neal says Angel Reese is leading the Rookie of the Year race over Caitlin Clark

The WNBA Rookie of the Year race keeps getting hotter and ahead of the All-Star and Olympic break, O’Neal shared his pick for this year’s award.

“I’m so happy for her, so happy for her team and I’m not saying this because she went to LSU but I think she’s definitely leading in the Rookie of the Year race,” O’Neal said.

This didn’t prevent him from praising Clark’s season.

“I give the vote to Angel. Caitlin is a fabulous player, the female Steph Curry. They have done a lot for the game, but let’s not forget the people that made the game what it was. I will never forget Sheryl Swoopes, Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie.”

Reese and Caitlin Clark have the tools to mark an era in the WNBA, but when it comes to Shaq, there’s a clear favorite.
