Michael Jordan has acquired more than just widespread notoriety and an ardent fan base throughout the course of his career. The NBA legend has also accumulated a massive $2 billion in income. So it comes as no surprise that MJ owns one of the priciest private aircraft.
In 1985, when MJ debuted his first sneaker line, he stunned the world. That’s none other than the notable partnership with Nike, one of the most significant corporate transactions in sports history. He agreed to a $2.5 million contract with the company. He worked with some of the biggest brands during the ensuing years, including Gatorade, McDonald’s, and others.
When Nike launched the Air Jordan 1, a sneaker created especially for Jordan, it created a great sensation across the world in 1985. The sneaker was well-received, and it assisted in making Michael Jordan a popular name.
Jordan wanted to find a way to apply the Air Jordan brand to his personal life since he was so proud of it. He acquired a Gulfstream G550 private jet in 1999 and had it embellished with an elephant-print pattern in grey, white, and black. The 1988 Air Jordan 3 sneakers were used as inspiration for the design.
Jordan’s initials, “MJ,” and his jersey number, “23,” are also displayed on the aircraft. The jet’s tail number, N236MJ, is an allusion to both Jordan’s uniform number and his six NBA titles.
The jet, which is among the most lavish private jets in existence, is estimated to be worth over $61 million. There is a master bedroom, a living room, and a dining area in its spacious layout. A full bar and cutting-edge entertainment system are also included.
Michael Jordan also has an extravagant yacht
Jordan is renowned for being a fierce rival. He won six championship rings and went on to grow into the greatest basketball player in existence thanks to his methodology and mentality. The former Chicago Bulls guard seems to still take pleasure in being successful, though.
The Joy, his largest yacht, is worth an estimated $80 million. Feadship, a Dutch company renowned for producing extravagant luxury boats, constructed the vessel.
Jordan’s yacht is 70 meters (230 feet) long and powered by two 1,850 horsepower motors. The boat can attain a speed of 16 knots, but its cruising speed is 12 knots. (h/t via Slash Gear)
Since her debut in 2016, Joy has garnered a plethora of honorary recognition for its chic design and superior construction. The yacht can carry up to 12 passengers and up to 19 crew members.
Joy offers several amenities that visitors can enjoy in addition to being wonderful for unwinding in the open sea. The yacht offers a gym with contemporary equipment. Visitors can use the badminton court and basketball hoop on the yacht as well.
