The Baltimore County Police have announced a development in the criminal case against Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers.

The investigation into a domestic violence incident in which Flowers is thought to have been involved has been suspended, with the player avoiding criminal charges, according to The Baltimore Sun. However, it could be reopened if additional information is received.

Flowers declined to be interviewed by police through an attorney while the identifying information from the report has been redacted. The player wasn’t identified by name after a female made a call to the police in Acton, Massachusetts on January 16 claiming she was the victim of a domestic violence incident in which the “suspect’s brother also drew a firearm.”

The female declined to name the individual in question but said he is an “NFL player” who is “all over social media.”

The authorities named who they believed the suspect was, but that name has been redacted from all pertinent documents.

Baltimore police reached out to the alleged victim on January 30 about a report she had made in Massachusetts but she said there were “no further issues” and didn’t “disclose any further details relating to the original report.”

Last week, an NFL spokesperson said the league was reviewing the incident.

“It is routine for the league to look into a matter such as this,” they said.

NFL players are still subject to discipline even if they don’t face criminal charges after a report is made. Whether or not such will be the case with Flowers remains to be seen.
