Oklahoma Thunder guard Josh Giddey may be free to continue his career on the basketball court for now, but he is now reportedly the subject of a police investigation following social media allegations that he had a relationship that was sexual in nature with an underaged girl.

Police in California are reportedly investigating allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey, who is 21 years old, had an inappropriate relationship with a minor based in California.

According to TMZ Sports, the Newport Beach Police Department is investigating the situation.

It all started last week when an anonymous social media user said a girl who is seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time. TMZ noted the age of consent is 18 in California and 16 in Oklahoma.

Earlier on Tuesday, former NBA player Andrew Bogut revealed that the allegedly underage girl may have lied about her age when she went to a club in California. If the girl did lie about her age and got into the club, this also makes the club directly responsible for allowing an underage girl into their premises.

A lot of things are at stake here.

On Friday, Giddey was cleared to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Philadelphia 76ers. On the same day, the NBA confirmed they are also opening up an investigation into the allegations.

Josh Giddey’s future is still very much in the air, especially with this latest development.
