Brittany Mahomes on shooting after Chiefs rally

Brittany Mahomes, co-owner of the Kansas City Current soccer team and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes called the mass shooting following the team’s Super Bowl celebration Wednesday “devastating.”

“Shooting people is never the answer. Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough,” the mother of two young children wrote on her Instagram story after the shooting.

She followed up that message another two hours later after more details emerged, including how children had been shot.

“Lives lost and people injured during something that was supposed to be a celebration.” she wrote. “Horrible and traumatizing. So many prayers going to the families involved.” Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs CEO and chairman Clark Hunt, also posted a statement on Instagram.

“Please pray for those injured in today’s shooting at the parade, for kids separated from parents in the chaos, and for a lot of people with PTSD,” she wrote. “Our family and football family is fine. Very scared but safe.
