Teenage Sprinter Quincy Wilson Reveals Unfortunate Development After Winning Gold

The 16-year-old became the youngest male track and field athlete to ever win a gold medal.
Quincy Wilson is old enough to win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, but apparently still too young for some social media.

The 16-year-old sprinter made history in Paris, becoming the youngest male track and field gold medalist in history. He won the medal as part of the 4×400-meter team, running the opening leg of the first round. Though he did not compete in the final, Wilson still took home a gold medal when the American team beat Botswana.

Though he returned to America with some hardware, Wilson still suffers some effects of his youth. The teenager took to X to reveal that he had a difficult time getting onto TikTok due to his age.

“Tiktok tried to ban me because they said I was too young,” he wrote on X.

While he may need to wait to get onto the social media platform, Wilson was right at home with his fellow sprinters at the Paris Olympics. Teammate Vernon Norwood pulled the teenager aside during the Summer Games to deliver a message and share some encouragement.

“You belong here,” Norwood told Wilson. “This is the Olympics. Nobody in this world is getting this opportunity, so make the most of it.”
