Caitlin Clark Fans Beg Indiana Fever To Bring Back Coach Despite Christie Sides Commitment

The Indiana Fever recently affirmed their commitment to Christie Sides as their head coach, with the team’s new president, Kelly Krauskopf, even saying that she was “impressed” by what she accomplished in 2024.

Despite that statement, however, it didn’t stop fans from begging the Fever to consider taking a new direction, especially amid reports that another winning coach could be available soon.

According to a report by the Chicago Sun-Times, Connecticut Sun coach Stephanie White “isn’t expected to return” to the team in 2025. White is fresh off leading the Sun to the semifinals, only losing to the Minnesota Lynx in five games, so she’ll certainly be an alluring option for teams looking for a head coach or those who want to make a change.

Having said that, Fever fans took to social media to urge the team to make a move for White even with Sides in tow.

After all, not only is White a former WNBA Coach of the Year winner, but she also worked for the Fever in the past. She served as the team’s head coach from 2015 to 2016 and compiled a 37-31 record. Not to mention that she was an assistant when Indiana won its first and only WNBA championship so far in 2012.

White has the winning pedigree and the experience to elevate the Fever to true contenders, which is exactly what many fans think the team needs with their core of Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston set.

“Just write her a blank cheque like your legacy on the line,” a fan wrote on Vanshay Murdock’s post, while tagging both Krauskopf and Fever GM Amber Cox.

“[Amber Cox] Please!!!” a commenter added. Another supporter posted a similar message to Cox, writing, “Don’t pass up the opportunity to bring Stephanie White back to the Fevers, she has experience, appreciates Caitlin’s game and knows the team very well.”

“Need her to come home to Indiana,” a Fever faithful further said.

Others are convinced that White is the right person to lead the Fever, with a social media user explaining, “Steph White has such strong history with Indiana as an organization. She up to recently said that she has a soft spot for the organization. She’s a big CC supporter and used to play PG with same Jersey number too. If we don’t get her it will be because we didn’t want her imo.”

A sixth fan said, “If White is out of CT, I bet she ends up in Indiana. She knows the franchise, the players, and I can see Indy spending the money to make it happen. I do not see Chicago forking up coin to get a high performing coach like White.”

It remains to be seen what will really happen to Stephanie White with the Sun. But if she does become available, it will be interesting to see if the Fever will listen to the fans and make a move on her.

The Fever finished with a 20-20 record in 2024 and made the playoffs under Sides’ guidance, although they suffered a first-round exit. As for the Sun, White had tallied a 55-25 record in two seasons so far, with Connecticut making the postseason as a Top 3 seed in both instances.
