Caitlin Clark Joins Exciting Collaboration with Legendary Late-Night Host David Letterman

Big announcement for the WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Caitlin Clark just finished her historic debut season as the WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick, shattering multiple all-time league records and earning near-unanimous Rookie of the Year honors as an All-Star point guard for the Indiana Fever.

Now that her first professional season is over, Clark has her first extended break from basketball since before her senior season with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Clark is putting that free time to good use, landing some big-time speaking engagements during the WNBA offseason.

On Tuesday, Clark was announced as the special guest for a public conversation with legendary late-night TV host David Letterman at Ball State University.

The conversation will take place on Dec. 2 as part of the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series, which was established in 2008.

“David Letterman is our university’s most famous graduate. He is a native Hoosier and a national icon, and Caitlin Clark has quickly become a beloved Hoosier and national star,” Ball State University President Geoffrey Mearns said in a press release. “I anticipate their conversation will be very special. On behalf of Ball State, we are honored to host them.”

This is likely a lucrative opportunity for Clark. In a LinkedIn post from a few months ago, Agecroft Partners CEO Don Steinbrugge projected that Clark’s virtual speaking engagement fee is $100,000.

If that’s her virtual fee, it’s fair to assume her in-person speaking engagement number is even more staggering.

Clark is one of the nation’s most influential athletes following her stellar rookie campaign with the Fever. Leading the franchise to its first postseason appearance since 2016, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game.
