Caitlin Clark Shares Honest Thoughts On Never Winning NCAA Championship
Caitlin Clark got honest about not winning an NCAA Championship.
Caitlin Clark had an illustrious college basketball career during her four seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes. She led her team to two straight Final Four appearances and played in the 2024 National Championship.
Since her career at Iowa, she was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever before having an electric first season in the WNBA.
While she might not have the hardware to show how incredible she was for the Hawkeyes, she certainly stamped her name in the NCAA history books. She leads all of NCAA basketball — men’s or women’s — in scoring with 3,951 points.
Clark was generational, and she’s helped elevate women’s basketball to new heights. She’s played an integral role in the growth of the WNBA in just one season, too.

Conversation about her legacy in college basketball can only be in question for one factor, though, and that’s the fact that she didn’t win a National Championship. Can she be considered the greatest women’s college basketball player of all time without having won the big game?
Many have weighed in on the conversation, though Clark, herself, recently made her thoughts on the matter known during an appearance on the “Fresh Tawk” podcast.
“It’s crazy they start with 68 teams now… and we made it to top two for two years in a row,” Clark said. “And we’re still proud of it. We’re good at second place, okay! We’re good at second place.”
While she might not have the hardware, Clark is paving her way as a legend in women’s sports — and sports altogether — as she’s transcending the game she was able to dominate.
Clark is the NCAA basketball all-time leading scorer, though she’s got a long season in the WNBA ahead of her and plenty of time to secure a ring with her franchise.
