A sensational day of WNBA action saw Caitlin Clark star as the Indiana Fever beat the winless Washington Mystics. Elsewhere, the superb Kahleah Copper capped a sensational performance with a game-winning three-pointer at the death as the Phoenix Mercury battled back to beat the Minnesota Lynx and the Los Angeles Sparks ended a three-game skid with an impressive 81-72 victory over the Dallas Wings.

Caitlin Clark had a night to remember as she scored 30 points in front of the WNBA’s largest crowd since 2007 to seal an 85-83 victory for the Indiana Fever over the winless Washington Mystics.

A sell-out crowd of 20,333 filled The Capital One Arena, but they were left stunned as Clark made seven three-pointers to sink the Mystics to their 12th consecutive defeat this season and match her career-best points tally.

The Fever are now 3-9, impressing off the back of a four-day layoff that came after a gruelling start to the season that saw them play 11 games in 20 days.

Next up for the Mystics is a trip to the Atlanta Dream, while the Fever will be hoping to build with a game against the Connecticut Sun.

Clark felt like she could not miss atThe Capital One Arena.

“It felt good to shoot the ball well,” she said.

“I feel like even my misses were right there.

“All of us would say that [the schedule] it is just not ideal.

“It’s not an ideal way to play basketball. I think you could see the exhaustion on our faces — more mentally than probably physically.”

Kahleah Copper capped a sensational performance with a game-winning three-pointer at the death as the Phoenix Mercury battled back to beat the Minnesota Lynx 81-80 in the WNBA.

Copper’s three-pointer with 0.7 seconds left on the clock took her points total for the evening to 34 and helped the Mercury overturn a nine-point deficit with just over six minutes to play.

However, she was outshone as Copper registered six rebounds as the Mercury took their record for the season to 8-2.

Copper’s side will welcome the Seattle Storm to the Target Centre on Sunday, while the Lynx take on the Dallas Wings after suffering their sixth defeat of the season.

Dearica Hamby’s double-double helped the Los Angeles Sparks end a three-game skid with an 81-72 victory over the Dallas Wings.

Hamby finished with an impressive 22 points, 12 rebounds and four assists to make it eight double-doubles in ten games for the Sparks.

The Wings are now 3-5 ahead of their next game against the Mercury, while the Sparks are 2-7 after a difficult start to the season.

Jewell Loyd starred as the Seattle Storm secured their sixth win in a row with a 78-65 triumph over the Las Vegas Aces.

Loyd scored 25 points and secured nine rebounds to maintain Storm’s impressive start to the season and sink the Aces to their third defeat of the campaign.

The Aces will now look to return to winning ways when they travel to the Crypto.com Arena to face the Los Angeles Sparks.
