Since the WNBA season has come to a close, Indiana Fever star and rookie of the year Caitlin Clark has a chance to enjoy the college basketball season as a fan.

While she played her college ball at Iowa, she may now have an affinity for the Butler Bulldogs men’s basketball team. Her boyfriend and former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player, Connor McCaffery, is now on the coaching staff for the Bulldogs. This new role comes after he spent the 2023-24 season as the Basketball Development Coordinator for the Indiana Pacers.

In his first game as an assistant at Butler, the Bulldogs hosted the Missouri State Grizzlies at the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. While the game finished a bit closer than anticipated, as Butler was favored by 16.5 points, they did pull off the 72-65 victory.

On top of this being a big night for Connor McCaffrey, he wasn’t the only member of his family who played a role in the win. His younger brother, Patrick (24), joined the Bulldogs squad as a transfer after spending the first five years of his career playing for their father, Fran, at Iowa.

As for Clark, she was in the stands with the youngest McCaffrey brother, Jack, who is a four-star forward in the 2025 class and is committed to play for Thad Matta at Butler.

Patrick McCaffrey finished the game with 11 points, nine of which came from deep. He also contributed two blocks, three rebounds and three assists.

The McCaffrey family and Butler will return to action on Friday, as the Bulldogs will host the Austin Peay Governors. If Clark is in attendance again, she will surely be one of the most significant talking points of the game after her stellar rookie year, which saw her shatter record after record.
