Caitlin Clark’s Former Coach Reveals Strong Message To Fever Star After Team USA Snub
After Caitlin Clark was snubbed from Team USA’s Olympics roster, her high school coach made sure to reach out to the Indiana Fever star and remind her of how she responded when someone overlooked her game.
In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Kristin Meyer—who coached Clark during her time at Dowling Catholic High School—shared how the sharpshooter was not selected for the USA Under-17 World Cup team in 2018 despite helping the same squad qualify for that event.
According to Meyer, Clark used the heartbreak to level up her game even more. She was a sophomore at the time of the rejection, and by her junior year, she made huge strides in her development.
“She always worked hard and loved being in the gym, but there was a different level of maturity to her that summer. She just had this kind of locked-in attitude when she was in the gym. She was really driven to get better,” Meyer revealed.

The hard work paid off for Caitlin Clark, as she was selected for the USA’s U-19 World Championships teams in 2019 and 2021. She was the tournament MVP in the latter.
With Team USA basically telling Clark this time around that she wasn’t good enough to make the 2024 Olympics roster, it’s safe to expect that she’ll be more motivated than ever to show the selection committee that they made a mistake.
As Clark herself previously said (according to Fever coach Christie Sides), Team USA may have really woken a “monster.”
