Cam Newton came to the defense of Patrick Mahomes and, in the process, excoriated the Raiders’ rookie who played the Kermit the Frog prank on the Chiefs quarterback. At the Las Vegas training camp, instead of the talk being centered around what the players were doing, all anyone could discuss about was safety Trey Taylor mocking the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

And the former MVP, who appeared for the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, weighed in saying that training camp was not supposed to be fun and games. Cam Newton then asked about who the player was who was trolling the three-time World Champion quarterback:

“This sh*t ain’t fun and games. He (Patrick Mahomes) won the Super Bowl. I see what’s happening what you’re trying to do… Who is that?”

When his co-host replied that he didn’t know, Cam Newton fired back saying that was his point. Patrick Mahomes is a household name while Trey Taylor is just entering the league. The former Patriots quarterback said:

“Exactly. No disrespect to the dude but like that’s Patrick Mahomes. I know who that is. 37 for the Oakland Raiders, or not the Oakland Raiders, for the Las Vegas Raiders. He set himself up for that. And I didn’t know who had to tell him but he may be a Pro Bowler, he may be All Pro, he ain’t Kermit the Frog, why you over there bullsh*tting.”

Cam Newton then concluded that had the Chiefs quarterback not been constrained by having to be politically correct when responding to the incident, he would have asked who the rookie even was:

“Patrick ain’t gotta say that. He can’t he got to be politically correct. If I could say what I want to say bro. ‘Who the f**k are you?'”

Who is Raiders’ Trey Taylor who made fun of Patrick Mahomes and earned Cam Newton’s wrath?

Trey Taylor is a safety for the Raiders who was selected by the Raiders in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was picked 223 overall in the seventh round out of the Air Force Falcons. During his college career, he earned the prestigious Jim Thorpe award in 2023 for being the best defensive back in football.

Patrick Mahomes has since responded to his Kermit the Frog shenanigans and said that the issue will be addressed at the right time, which is ominous news for the Raiders who have to play the Chiefs twice every season in the AFC West.

The Kansas City quarterback might take extra pleasure in targeting Trey Taylor if the safety is on the field at any time.
