The Carolina Panthers are looking to bolster their defense on the back of a disastrous campaign in which they only managed two wins.

The Panthers don’t have a first-round pick for the upcoming draft as they traded up to snag Bryce Young at No. 1 overall in 2023, so they will need to make the best out of free agency heading into next season.

As such, the Panthers have signed a defensive player who won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 2021 season and will hope that his experience could help foster some improvement.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Nick Scott, who has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, has joined the team on a one-year deal.

Scott was drafted out of Penn State by the Rams, entering the NFL via the seventh round, and was part of the team that beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl. He would go on to play for L.A. for another season before spending 2023 in Cincinnati.

He had the best season of his career in 2022, having registered 86 combined tackles along with five pass breakups and two interceptions.

The Carolina Panthers Are Keen On A Playoff Return

The Carolina Panthers are aiming to make it back to postseason play for the first time since the 2017 campaign. They haven’t won a playoff fixture since winning the NFC Championship Game ahead of a Super Bowl loss in 2015.

They’re headed into 2024 with a new coach, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales, and are hoping their new man could prompt a resurgence similar to the one the Houston Texans just experienced with their rookie head coach.

The NFC South has proven difficult to maintain success in over the past few seasons, so a good start would do the world of good where the Panthers are concerned.
