Friday night brought history to the WNBA as the Chicago Sky defeated the Seattle Storm 88-84. Sky rookie Angel Reese left her mark on the Rookie of the Year debate as she tied Los Angeles Sparks legend Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles ever in the WNBA between multiple seasons with 12.

After the game, Sky guard Chennedy Carter made her thoughts on the Rookie of the Year debate known. Some fans want to see Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark win the award, while others want it to go to Reese. Carter stated that the honor should undoubtedly go to her teammate while subtly shading Clark in the process.

“Barbie’s rookie of the year. [There’s] no other way to put it,” Carter said. “She goes out, she does her work every single night no matter what team we’re facing. I’m telling you, Barbie’s rookie of the year, for sure.”

Many will remember the cheap shot Carter laid on Clark earlier in the season. This incident sparked a wide controversy, and many people think Carter simply doesn’t like Clark. This recent interview is further evidence of that.

Against the Storm, Reese recorded 27 points and ten rebounds to secure her record-tying game. She also hit her first two three-pointers of her WNBA career, setting her own personal record.

Carter’s game shouldn’t go unnoticed, too, as she led the team in scoring with 33 points on 15-of-24 shooting.
