Chiefs rookie Kingsley Suamataia described Travis Kelce as an ‘older brother’ and revealed the tight end has taken him ‘under his wing’ since he was drafted by the reigning Super Bowl champions.

‘Travis is a funny guy,’ the 21-year-old told reporters during training camp on Tuesday.

‘It feels like an older brother relationship that I have with him,’ Suamataia explained.

‘He kind of took me under his wing when I first got here. It’s real nice having him, having that role model.’

The offensive tackle out of BYU also noted that Kelce ‘knows a bit of [his] culture.’

‘He understands the Polynesian culture, where I’m from [and] how we love hard,’ Suamataia said.

‘That’s how he plays and how he shows it out there on the field.’

The 6-foot-5, 326-pounder was taken in the second round at No. 63 by the Chiefs as the two-time defending champions added more protection for Patrick Mahomes.
Following the pick, ESPN said that ‘Suamataia’s tape is inconsistent, but the flashes and ceiling are impressive.’

He was the 74th-best player in the draft according to ESPN’s rankings.

Meanwhile, Kelce is continuing his role as a leader as he enters his 12th season playing for Kansas City.

It comes one year after he attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium, and publicly revealed he attempted to give the pop star his number.

On July 26, 2023, Kelce explained on an episode of the New Heights podcast that he tried to give her a friendship bracelet.

‘I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,’ the tight end said at the time.

When his co-host, brother Jason tried to clarify whether his sibling was referring to his phone or jersey number, Travis replied, ‘You know which one.’

Swift later admitted that they went on several dates under the radar before hard launching their relationship at a Chiefs-Bears game last September.

‘We started hanging out right after [the podcast episode],’ Swift told TIME Magazine.

‘We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,’ she clarified.

‘I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.’
