Perhaps no player in the NFL outside of the Kansas City Chiefs showed the Chiefs as much support during their 2023 Super Bowl run than Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
So after Kelce announced his retirement yesterday, the team decided to show him some respect. Taking to X on Monday, the Chiefs said that while he may not have been their player, they still consider him family. The team congratulated him on his career and said the game will miss him.
“You never played for us, but you’re still family. The game is going to miss you @JasonKelce ❤️ Congratulations on a legendary career!” the team wrote.
Eagles fans and Chiefs fans alike appreciated the organization showing so much love and appreciation to Kelce: “This is exactly why no matter how hard some goofs try I’ll never beef with KC fans lol,” one user replied.
“& people really wanted the Niners to beat them in the Super Bowl,” wrote another. “PLEASE WEVE CRIED ENOUGH TODAY parents bought me a cd 16 years ago and now I’m crying over men for an entire day help,” a third wailed. Kelce was a seven-time Pro Bowler and a six-time First-Team All-Pro selection during his 13-year NFL career.
Though his enduring legacy might wind up being the anchor behind the “Tush Push” that the Eagles have executed to perfection in recent years.
