Chris Hemsworth was supposedly paid a whopping US$20million (AU$29.4million) to star in his latest Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

This paycheck is 100 times bigger than his fee for the first Thor movie in 2011, which was said to be US$150,000 (AU$220,000), according to various reports.

His price tag rose sharply after his first outing as the God of Thunder, with his salary for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok estimated to be US$15million (AU$22million).

Hemsworth, who rose to fame in Australia on soap opera Home and Away, was propelled to superstardom when he was cast as Thor.

He was part of an ensemble cast in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which is the second highest-grossing movie of all time behind James Cameron’s Avatar.

The Thor movies are highly regarded within the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their combination of action and humour.

It was revealed last week that Hemsworth was mindful of his co-star Natalie Portman’s vegan diet while filming Thor: Love and Thunder.

During an interview with Capital FM, the American actress revealed how the Aussie heart-throb abstained from eating meat ahead of their kissing scene.

‘He’s really nice. The day we had a kiss scene he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan,’ she said.
