There has been a barrage of information about Jada Pinkett Smith’s upcoming book, where she tells all about the infamous slap husband Will Smith gave to Chris Rock at the Oscars. A moment that became a cultural phenomenon and will be tattooed in people’s minds for many years to come. Looking back at the many reasons Will Smith snapped at that moment, one would think the main reason was his already troubled relationship with Jada. Also, Chris Rock had obliterated his wife during the 2016 Oscars monologue but the plot has just thickened far more than anybody expected. Chris Rock asked Jada out and got rejected

Jada Pinkett Smith made it clear that the 2016 diss at the Oscars was settled with a call where both of them apologized. While Jada publicly asked Chris and other African Americans to ditch the event amid the #OscarsTooWhite campaign, she also didn’t realize the level of pressure Chris Rock was probably under. After the roast, they hashed things out with that call and Jada thought that was settled. But after that 2016 moment, rumors of Jada and Will Smith’s alleged divorce were everywhere and Chris Rock thought it viable to ask the actress out on a date. This is where the plot twist is confirmed because now we can see the Chris Rock joke at the 2022 Oscars through entirely different optics. That was a man who got rejected and was probably hurting because of that.

Jada Pinkett Smith revealed this to People while also thinking the situation was settled right then and there. A misunderstanding she eventually realized wasn’t settled at all. Here’s what she said: “I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that.”

This is just shocking to me. So, Jada Pinkett~Smith just publish her book, “Worthy”, and reveals her and Will Smith have been separated, excuse me… “Divorced “ since 2016. That’s 7 years ago.
