Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese stretched her historic double-double streak to 14 games on Wednesday. She scored 11 points and 14 rebounds during the Sky’s 78-69 win over the Atlanta Dream at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Wednesday.

Veteran analyst Jason Whitlock, though, is unimpressed with Angel Reese’s latest double-double game. He slammed Reese and the Chicago Sky along with the referees and the Atlanta Dream players after the polarizing rookie knocked down late free throws to keep her streak alive.

Through a video on his X (formerly knock as Twitter) handle, Whitlock opined that the entire league is conspiring to support Sky rookie Angel Reese and helping her in stat-padding.

“The entire WNBA is in on the Angel Reese gimmick. The Chicago Sky are at home playing against terrible team in Atlanta Dream.

“They are up seven points with 12 seconds to play. That means the shot clock is turned off, and they are up by three possessions. In 99.9% of the games, the offensive team inbounds the ball and holds the ball, et the clock run out,” Whitlock said.

“Instead, they are inbounding the ball, and Angel Reese has her hands up as she is posting up. They are running a play just to get her a bucket,” he added.

What exactly happened in the Angel Reese play?

At one point, it seemed like Reese’s double-double streak would come to an end. The former LSU superstar had nine points with 12 seconds remaining, with the Chicago Sky leading Atlanta Dream 76-69.

With Reese needing a point to secure another double-double, the Sky ran a play to post up the rookie, handing her a chance to keep her streak alive. As it turned out, Reese was fouled by a Dream player, and the referee blew the whistle, sending the Sky rookie to the free throw line.

The 22-year-old knocked down both her free throws, the first of which helped keep her double-double streak alive.

Meanwhile, Whitlock also opined that teams and referees are “bending over backwards” to help Angel Reese while also bringing in the racial factor into the picture by citing Caitlin Clark’s example.

“When I watched the clip, the referees seemed to be in on it because the whistle seemed real quick to me. In a situation like this when it’s a three-possessions game with 12 seconds to go, the referees also want to go home. You don’t have to call that foul nor you have to commit that foul. This is why I am saying everyone is on it. The racial idolatry.

“Do you see people that aren’t with the Indiana Fever bending over backward to help Caitlin Clark? That’s the Atlanta Dream bending over backwards ‘hey, this girl needs a bucket, let me elbow her in the back and give the referee an opportunity to call a silly foul. Everyone can celebrate; the double-double streak continues’,” he added.

Reese played 29:54 minutes against the Atlanta Dream, shooting 4-of-9 from the floor en route 11 points on the night.
