Seattle Storm guard Nika Muhl continues to recuperate from a torn ACL she suffered on October 3, 2024.
It was a devastating blow for Muhl, who was making her overseas debut for Turkish club Besiktas in the FIBA SuperCup after the Storm were eliminated by the Las Vegas Aces in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
The 23-year-old Muhl sustained the injury during a fastbreak attempt in the third quarter against Fenerbahce.
Despite the setback, the Storm rookie has remained in high spirits and active on social media. On Sunday, she posted a series of Instagram Stories with her former Connecticut teammate Paige Bueckers on her 23rd birthday.
“Happy birthday to this absolute GEM I found in America,” Muhl said in the caption of a picture of them goofing around.

In another picture, Muhl, who hails from Croatia, also wrote a heartwarming message for Bueckers.
“Really wish I could hug you rn twin,” she said alongside three pictures of her and Bueckers hugging each other.

“I got your back always and forever,” Muhl added in a third Instagram Story.

Muhl played four seasons with the Huskies, averaging 5.8 points, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals. She was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023 and finished her Connecticut career as the all-time leader in assists.
She was then drafted by the Storm as the No. 14 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Bueckers, meanwhile, was named the Big East Player of the Year in 2021 and 2024 and despite being a top prospect for the 2024 WNBA draft, she opted to return to the Huskies for another season.
She is being tagged as the consensus No. 1 overall pick in next year’s WNBA draft.
