The designer behind three of Taylor Swift’s now-famed Eras Tour gowns had no clue her creations would be showcased during the global phenomenon.

Nicole + Felicia designer and creative director Nicole Chang spoke to People about the “really crazy” experience.

“I remember we were just really nervous because we didn’t know where or when she’d wear them,” recalled Taiwanese-born Chang, who in 2015 co-founded the label with sister Felicia Chang.

The pair, whose mother and father worked in wedding gown manufacturing, only learned that Swift was donning their designs onstage during the mᴀssive tour due to videos that surfaced online.

“I was so happy,” said Chang, who noted, “The whole process was very smooth. We actually sent a few samples for Taylor to try on just to get her feedback. We also created the dancers’ dresses as well to match with the gold and purple gowns.”

The sisters, who first worked with Swift on her “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” video in 2021, crafted the “Anti-Hero” singer’s bejeweled gold ball gown, her tiered lilac gown, and the blue halter dress worn when announcing the release date of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

Earlier this week, Swift announced that an Eras Tour concert film will hit AMC Theatres on Oct. 13, quickly breaking the theater chain’s record for first-day pre-sales.
