Drew Barrymore admitted that the budding romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has inspired her to jump back into the dating field.
The Ever After actress, 48 – who was seen during previews of F1 Grand Prix of United States in Austin – was also joined by Gwyneth Paltrow to discuss ‘retirement’ on an upcoming episode of The Drew Barrymore Show which airs on October 23.
The star explained that the Bad Blood singer’s first date in September with the NFL pro after the Kansas City Chiefs’ win at Arrowhead Stadium gave her the motivation to consider putting herself out there again.
Drew explained she recently took her daughter to see the Eras Tour movie and stated, ‘There’s something about this human being that’s like pushing people to express themselves in a very joyous, positive way.’
‘I just want to say for me personally, I have been single for seven years, happily. Seeing her on that first date out there in the box with his family, I really had a big Oprah a-ha moment.’
‘There was something so normal about it, and obviously Taylor Swift is everything but normal,’ she continued.
‘But it was just like, “I’m a female, I’m going to go out on a date with a male, I’m not going to overthink this, I am not going to be the dark horse and be secretive and weird about it.” It was like, she just went on a date.’
Barrymore then announced, ‘And it made me think I could just go out on a date,’ which was followed by supportive applause and cheers from the audience.
‘This was evidence of not being affected by what other people think,’ the star expressed, continuing, ‘It was so calm, confident and normal that it just made me think I should do this too.’
The TV personality has tied the knot three times, with her first marriage being to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995. She then said ‘I do’ to Tom Green in 2001 until their divorce was finalized the following year.
In 2012, the Never Been Kissed star married Will Kopelman and the pair divorced in 2016. The former couple share two daughters: Olive, 11, and Frankie, nine.
Late last year in December, she opened up about the split to People, and stated, ‘There was no scandal. Nothing went wrong, which is cleaner, but makes it harder and more confusing because there isn’t The Thing to point to.’
‘We tried so hard to make it work. [A friend] said to me, “Divorce is the death of a dream.” That’s exactly what it feels like, something so final you can’t get it back.’
However, while she feels inspired to start dating once again, she told CBS Mornings last year in 2022 that had no intentions to get married again.
‘I would maybe live with someone again, maybe, but I’ve had kids and there’s no way, I will never, ever, ever, get married again.’
Elsewhere in the episode, Drew was joined by fellow actress and businesswoman, Gwyneth Paltrow at Goop Headquarters. The two discussed an assortment of topics, including whether the Oscar winner had plans to retire soon.
‘I really do think that women live in chapters,’ the Iron Man actress expressed. ‘And so, I think we do think about the next chapter while we’re very firmly in this chapter.’ However, she admitted, ‘I don’t think about retiring soon.’
‘But, I am excited for the next chapter of my life at whatever point it comes, where I’m in the garden and maybe I have a couple grandkids and maybe I’m not working so hard and I’m sort of exploring what it is to be like a powerful old lady.’
Paltrow launched her wellness and lifestyle brand in 2008, which turned into a successful company. Goop is estimated to be a worth a whopping $250 million, Cosmopolitan reported earlier this year in March.
Drew then asked how Gwyneth had come up with the name, Goop, for her company and the actress gave the story behind the decision.
‘I went to go see my friend, Peter Arnell, and he was like, ‘This is a good idea,”‘ in regards to the brand. ‘And I said, “I just don’t know what to call it.”‘
She humorously recalled, ‘And he said, “I know what you should call it! You should call it Goop.” And I was like, “That’s terrible, like awful.”‘
‘He said it was my initials, with two O’s in the middle, and he said, “All big internet companies have two O’s…Yahoo and Facebook…And I was like, “Okay, I’ll do it.”‘
Also in the upcoming episode that fans can tune into next week on October 23, the pair talk about how Paltrow started Goop after her daughter was born as well as her recent fifth wedding anniversary with husband Brad Falchuk.
