Dwayne Johnson was regarded as one of the best wrestlers of all time back when he still performed in the ring. So when he made his comeback after four years at the WWE Friday Night Smackdown to perform in the match against Austin Theory, the audience went truly wild.
Pat McAfee, who was also present in the ring, boosted the crowd’s excitement while The Rock made his remarkable entrance, saying (via WWE),
“This is the people’s show. And you know what that means?”
Not only this, diving deeper into the event, there was a moment when John Cena‘s rival Theory tried to antagonize Johnson. He asked,
“Do you know whose ring you’re in? It’s been a long time, Rock. A long time. But let me go ahead and tell you-”
To this, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson cut him and said,
“Shut your b**ch-a** up. You clearly don’t know how all this works.”
He then peeled off his jacket and threw it into the crowd before announcing, “Finally, The Rock has come back to Denver!” Classic entrance for The People’s Champion!

When Dwayne Johnson made his surprise appearance at the event, the crowd went utterly ecstatic, welcoming the millionaire with a four-minute standing ovation, which the star lists as one of the ‘top 5 loudest crowd reactions’ of his career. Thanking both John Cena’s WWE rival as well as his beloved fans, he took to X to say:
“I was – I’m still – completely blown away by this crowd reaction in Denver this past Friday night on SMACKDOWN. My appearance was a surprise to everyone and this crowd of 14,000 erupted with the roar of 100,000 strong. Top 5 loudest crowd reaction of my career (which I was like ‘h**y s**t’ when I walked out.) I’m so grateful and humbled by this. I never take it for granted and ‘coming home’ will always be sacred to me.”
Continuing, he thanked his friend Pat McAfee, Austin Theory, and lastly, the WWE crew backstage as well.
“Thank you my guy PatMac, the talented Austin Theory, @wwe family backstage, Team Rock behind the scenes – everyone who joined us to go ALL IN. But most importantly, thank you with all my love, gratitude, and respect, to THE PEOPLE. Our connection is real. Electrifying. ~ people’s champ.”
While this was certainly interesting, what’s more interesting is when he will make his appearance in the WWE ring next.
