NBA legend Dwyane Wade knows very well why Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky wing Angel Reese have been so popular. While they are different players with different approaches to the game, the personalities they have built have created loyal fan bases that are just drawn to them.
Wade shared as much in a recent interview with the Associated Press, revealing his thoughts on the massive hype surrounding the two rising stars.
According to Wade, Clark and Reese’s personalities, what they stand for and what they represent have brought a lot of attention to the WNBA, which has then caused a ripple effect that has benefited the league.
“You have fan bases drawn to Caitlin Clark because of who she is and what she represents and you have fan bases drawn to Angel Reese because of who she is and what she represents which brings in more attention, more sellouts, more jersey sellouts,” said Wade, who is also a part-owner of the Sky.

Dwyane Wade couldn’t have said it any better. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were the two most popular female players in college for the past couple of years, and after establishing that loyal following, they have brought those legion of fans into the WNBA.
Now, the rest of the league is benefiting from it. While Magic Johnson did say that Clark’s effect is on a whole different level, Reese’s impact cannot be denied as well.
With both Clark and Reese thriving with their respective teams, it’s safe to assume that the WNBA is only going to get an increased attention moving forward, thanks in large part to these two.
