Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce have revealed various stories from their childhood and family on their “New Heights” podcast. In a recent appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast,” Jason told a story of a time he and his younger brother got into a physical altercation.
Jason Kelce said he and Travis Kelce were playing basketball in their backyard when he got mad that his brother was making multiple baskets and decided to foul him to stop his momentum. Travis apparently was left upset and went into the house, and Jason followed and proceeded to punch him.
“We’re out in the backyard and he starts just driving and doing these stupid shots,” Jason said. “He’s making it every single time and I can’t do anything to stop it. So I resort to fouling him, the only way I know how to stop it. So he says ‘That’s bulls**t, that’s a foul.’ I’m like ‘I don’t see any refs out here, I don’t see anyone calling it.’
“He takes the ball, throws it at me, it goes in the house. I go in there, I grab him by the shoulder and I punch him.”
Jason Kelce said that it was only the second time that he had ever punched his brother. The fight didn’t stop there, though, as Travis Kelce then picked his brother up and threw him on the floor, and the two fought so hard that they knocked the oven in their kitchen off kilter.
“Listen, we would fight every time,” Jason said. “This was only the second time I’d ever punched him. I don’t know how it got that heated. Punched him in the face. Every time before that, he would cry or whatever.
“He took this punch, scooped me up off my feet and slammed me on the kitchen floor so hard the oven got knocked off the tracks. I get up, we’re in a full-on fist fight.”
Thankfully, the two brothers have gotten through that stage of their lives and now have nothing but love for each other.
Jason Kelce trolled Travis Kelce’s missed route in preseason game
On Saturday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Detroit Lions in the second preseason game of the season. In the first quarter, Patrick Mahomes showed off a behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce to get the first down. NFL fans went crazy that one of the quarterback’s famous moves had made its debut so early.
According to Patrick Mahomes after the game, it was an impromptu move as Travis Kelce apparently ran the wrong route. Mahomes was frustrated and essentially threw the pass out of spite, hoping he would catch it.
When Jason Kelce heard that it was a mistake on Travis Kelce’s part that led to the unique pass, he had some thoughts. In a reply on X, Jason Kelce joked that if his brother makes more mistakes, this could end up being an exciting season for the Kansas City Chiefs.
“If Pat starts throwing behind the back passes every time Travis runs the wrong route, this may be the most exciting year of football to date,” Jason Kelce wrote on X
That could end up making Jason Kelce’s new role as an analyst on ESPN a bit more interesting as well.
