Elon Musk, the billionaire behind SpaceX and Tesla Inc. and presently the richest man on the planet, has a background of expensive divorces and several marriages. Actress Tallulah Riley was his second wife, whom he married and divorced twice.

 

 

Riley and he met in a London club in 2008, which sparked a quick courtship that ended in marriage in 2010. In 2012, the first marriage ended in divorce. Musk posted on X, sharing his thoughts, saying, “It was an amazing four years.” I shall always love you. Riley admitted in an interview with The Independent that their decision to get married again was strange, adding, “I guess the reason to get remarried was just because it felt weird to be together unmarried after having been married. “This is my spouse,” “This is my spouse,” and “Oh, wait, no, we’re not that anymore,” were the things we were saying. We ought to return to that.” Musk was referred to by her as “the perfect ex-husband.”

 

Riley reportedly agreed to leave the marriage amicably, and he filed for the couple’s second divorce in Los Angeles. Musk had already withdrawn his divorce petition a few months after filing in December 2014.

Musk and Riley have maintained a cordial relationship throughout their ups and downs as a married couple, even at times considering each other friends. It was also mentioned that prior to the formal divorce filing, the couple had been living apart for six months. When asked if she would marry him a third time during the divorce process, she said, “I mean, never say never.”

Riley is optimistic about their relationship even after their marriage ended, stating that they have a “very deep love and connection.” As per a 2022 story published in The Independent, she declared, “He’s an amazing friend.” He watches out for me. It’s great that we are in a happy position now where we treat one other well. I love him with all of my heart.”

A hefty divorce settlement was awarded to Justine Musk, which included a $200,000 Tesla Roadster automobile, 10% of Musk’s SpaceX equity, and $6 million in cash. At first, Justine Musk requested $2 million in cash and $80,000 per month in alimony. Justine rejected Musk’s initial offer of a $80 million settlement, demanding a stake in his businesses, SpaceX and Tesla. This occurred during an unsuccessful legal appeal.

Ultimately, $20 million was included in the settlement. Throughout the dispute, he also paid Justine Musk’s legal expenses. According to reports, Elon Musk was paying his ex-wife’s bills, such as shoes and clothes, $20,000 a month. This was in addition to an undisclosed amount of maintenance. Along with sharing custody of their five kids, Elon Musk also covered the cost of the nannies’ salaries. Additionally, it is said that he gives his ex-wife roughly $20,000 a month for clothing and other luxuries.

One of the priciest divorce settlements ever reached at the time, it was noteworthy for Musk’s continued financial obligations to Justine, especially the monthly payments for personal and legal expenditures.

Riley is said to have received more than $20 million from Musk during their two divorces. Riley was awarded a $4.2 million settlement in the 2012 initial divorce. Following their second marriage and subsequent divorce, Musk consented to a $16 million settlement.

In more recent times, Musk and artist Grimes have been involved in a custody dispute about their children. Grimes brought legal action against Musk, requesting physical custody of their children in a Californian court and a restraining order to keep the children from being removed from California. This comes after Musk filed a Texas custody lawsuit, which Grimes is attempting to have dismissed on the grounds that Texas lacks jurisdiction over the custody dispute because she and the kids moved to California.
