With her recent appearance in Christopher Nolan’s latest masterpiece Oppenheimer, the popularity of the actress has seen a dramatic shift towards a bonafide star of the industry. But when it comes to the question of superstardom, the actress could’ve achieved it a lot sooner if she hadn’t rejected this significant role in the MCU.

Making a name for herself with some amazing films and recent blockbusters like Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt is slowly inching towards the fame she deserves. But this journey wasn’t an easy one since she never found that one role, or than one film that could catapult her towards the superstardom that most stars aim for. But it’s not like she lacked the opportunity to do so, in fact, she deliberately declined to become Black Widow in the MCU, which was heartbreaking according to her.

The aforementioned role, which eventually went to Scarlett Johansson, was initially offered to the A Quite Place star, but she had to decline that offer unwillingly. In a past interview with Howard Stern on his podcast, the actress talked about why she had to take this step and why it hurt. She said that when she was offered this role, she was contractually obligated to film Gulliver’s Travels, which led her to reject the offer. She regretted the choice she had to make since she couldn’t do much about it, saying:

“I was contracted to do Gulliver’s Travels. I didn’t want to do Gulliver’s Travels, It was a bit of a heartbreaker for me. I take such pride in the decisions that I make, and they mean so much to me, the films that I do, so that was tough”
But this wasn’t the only time she refused to become part of the MCU. Marvel Studios once again tried to recruit her, but in this instance, it was as Agent Peggy Carter for Captain America: The First Avenger. However this time, it was a rejection she made on her own since she revealed that scheduling issues were the reason she had to decline the offer.

With some exceptional performances in the past couple of years in many films, the industry is bound to take notice of an actress of her caliber, which also includes the MCU. For some time now, it has been rumored that fans of the cinematic universe can see the actress playing the role of Sue Storm from the upcoming Fantastic Four in the franchise.

Popularly known as her superhero alias Invisible Girl, the star fits the image of the core member of the superhero team almost perfectly. Adding to that, since her husband John Krasinski was already seen as Reed Richards in the MCU a while back, she can’t be too far off from the action.
