Chicago Sky Make Big Announcement About Angel Reese’s WNBA Future

The Chicago Sky scored the steal of the 2024 WNBA Draft when they drafted Angel Reese with the No. 7 pick.

Not only has this worked out on the court, but Reese’s stardom has also brought an unprecedented amount of attention to the Sky franchise. A July 24 article from the Chicago Tribune shows what the Sky have been able to do with this added attention.

“The Chicago Sky will break ground this fall on a purpose-built training center, delivering on team ownership’s promise to provide exclusive player facilities,” the Tribune’s Julia Poe wrote.

“The $38 million facility will … be completed by December 2025 and the 40,000-square-foot facility to be fully available for the 2026 WNBA season.”

The article also notes, “The new building also will include amenities such as individual lockers, strength and conditioning equipment, player lounges, recovery and film rooms and a private kitchen.

“The facility also will include amenities to support player endeavors off the court, including beauty stations and a content creation studio,” Poe added.

Sky players never have had access to their own practice court or lockers. But with the new interest the WNBA is receiving (largely due to Reese’s presence), this dream has become a reality.
