Sylvester Stallone wanted to cast Sigourney Weaver as his on-screen wife for The Expendables franchise’s spin-off series but she rejected it.
Sylvester Stallone is one of the most renowned actors in Hollywood. From the most iconic roles to some of the most well-liked franchises, the actor has indulged himself in all of them. Whether it is a name as iconic as that of Rocky or a franchise as massive as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is barely anything Stallone hasn’t indulged in when it comes to the world of cinema.

Out of the many franchises he is linked to, one that just released its latest part is The Expendables. The entire series is one filled with a star-studded cast enlightening the sets in the best way possible. However, there was one actor who did not want to be a part of it, Sigourney Weaver.
Sylvester Stallone Wanted Sigourney Weaver to Lead the Her Own Team
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sylvester Stallone revealed that he had plans for a spin-off for The Expendables. Following the success of the $838 Million Franchise (via The Numbers), the actor actually pitched an idea that would revolve around a female-centric group of mercenaries.
“With The Expendabelles we’ve got a situation where we’re in unchartered waters. Do we put all women actresses together, would that really work? Or do we have some women who are actually really known to be tough fighters,” Stallone stated. “So she’d get the house, the kids and my mercenaries!”
He talked about how he wanted them to be called the Expendebelles and that he wished for Sigourney Weaver to take on the role of the leader. Not only that, he wanted her to be his wife in the series. The actor jested about how Weaver would have gotten not only Stallone’s character’s house but also his kids and the mercenaries. The actor even thought about whether or not the idea could even work.
Sigourney Weaver Rejected Wanting to be a part of The Expendablles
Despite being the iconic face of female action stars, Sigourney Weaver did not want to be a part of Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendablles. As per The Hollywood Reporter, she ended up rejecting the offer completely. Although the reason for her rejection is unknown, it is clear that Stallone really wanted her to be a part of it.

There were various names he wanted to tie to the franchise, however, there is no specific news regarding the spin-off either. In earlier days, Weaver was barely seen as an action star in front of other actors including Arnold Schwarzenegger. This was not something she appreciated either, considering how she paved the way for other actresses to get their own journeys filled with action movies.
