Dwayne Johnson’s return to the Fast and Furious franchise in the tenth installment, Fast X, has fans going crazy. Along with this, Johnson’s return to the series is like the cherry on top for the fans. This is surprising as in previous interviews, Johnson quite clearly stated that he would not be returning to the series, being absent in F9. Despite this, he appears in a post-credit scene which was kept under wraps until the release of the movie. This scene made fans incredibly excited to see what is next for the movies, which shows in the amount of success the movie is gathering.

Fast X It’s Box-Office Success Due To Dwayne Johnson’s Return

Fast X was one of the most anticipated movies of 2023. Though it was originally supposed to be the last movie in the franchise, Vin Diesel stated that he did not think that two hours and twenty-one minutes, which is the runtime of the movie, was enough time to say all that they had to say and wrap up all the storyline. So, the movie became part one of a three-part finale.

Though Dwayne Johnson was only part of a post-credit scene in the movie, it seemed to have affected its success drastically as it was not officially confirmed and instead was first seen in theaters itself. The film grossed more than $650 million worldwide with a budget of $340 million. However, it seems that one scene with Johnson does not make the franchise as much money as an entire movie with him.

Fast and Furious Spin-off Movie Hobbs and Shaw Made More than Fast X

Dwayne Johnson entered the Fast and Furious franchise in the fifth movie in the series, Fast Five, as Luke Hobbs. Soon enough, however, he got his own spin-off movie titled Hobbs and Shaw with Jason Statham who plays Hobbs’s nemesis, Deckard Shaw. This movie takes place between the eighth and nine Fast and Furious movies and followers the two characters as they are forced to team up with each other to stop a major threat.

It would seem that Dwayne Johnson’s addition to the Fast and Furious franchise was quite good for them on a financial front. Hobbs and Shaw, even though a spin-off, ended up managing to make more than $760 million worldwide throughout its course, something Vin Diesel’s Fast X hasn’t been able to do as of yet.
