“Gotta give it a 10”: Keanu Reeves’ $103M Cult-Classic Movie by James Cameron’s Oscar-Winning Ex-Wife Gets Perfect Rating from Former Bank Robber

Bizarre things have been happening in the entertainment industry since its inception. But, far more weird things happen when people get influenced by Hollywood and attempt them in real life. Evidently, something like this happened when a former bank robber mentioned joining the cult after getting influenced by Keanu Reeves’ $103M movie.

Keanu Reeves’ 1991 movie Point Break not only generated a loyal fanbase over the years but also got praised by critics and audiences alike. However, nothing was more shocking than the former bank robber, Cain Vincent Dyer giving the movie a perfect rating, despite big-time flaws. Reflecting upon the iconic heist movie, Dyer mentioned being overly influenced by it.

Cain Vincent Dyer Hailed Keanu Reeves’ Point Break

On his journey to be a Hollywood legend, Keanu Reeves appeared in several big and small-budget movies. One such well-known project from Reeves is his 1991 movie Point Break. Directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, the movie earned $103M at the box office. The cult classic heist movie further gained a loyal fanbase and was showered with mixed reviews.

However, the movie about FBI agent Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), who goes undercover to investigate a group of surfers deemed to be criminals, apparently inspired former bank robber Cain Vincent Dyer. In a recent video from Insider, Dyer thus discussed the tiny details of the movie and praised its overall depiction.
In so many bank robberies, we actually witness the robbers coming in and yelling at customers and tellers alike to get down or to raise their hands. That’s something that I definitely stayed away from.” Dyer began explaining.

Explaining how he admired subtle details from the movie, the bank robber stated, “I never asked anyone to lay on the floor or lift their hands.” Further discussing how Point Break kept track of tiny details, Cain Vincent Dyer hailed the movie for its authenticity, despite its flaws in depicting actual robberies.

Former Bank Robber Gave Point Break A Complete 10

After reflecting upon the potential issues of making customers lift their arms or deciding to rob a bank wearing masks, former bank robber Cain Vincent Dyer hailed the movie for its authentic depiction of the tension in such a situation. Taking examples from his own heists, the former robber positively criticized the $103M movie for failing to figure out bank robberies.

You see a bunch of people standing in there with their hands up or laying on the ground, you’re not going to enter…One of the bad things about wearing a mask: You’re alerting people that probably something’s going to take place here.” Dyer pointed out.
Nonetheless, despite comparing Keanu Reeves‘ Point Break with most other heist movies, Cain Vincent Dyer still offered the Kathryn Bigelow-directed movie a perfect rating. Criticizing its over-dramatic display of robberies just like every other movie or show, the former robber hailed Reeves’ 1991 cult classic for its aftermath.

So, ‘Point Break,’ gotta give it a 10,” Dyer stated. Although it’s interesting to hear about the thoughts of the former bank robber about the accuracy or flaws of the movie, it is believed that Keanu Reeves’ movie seemingly tapped into the adventurous nature of the surfing criminals. But in the end, it’s worth wondering how the movie would have turned out if they went about some things differently, as mentioned by Dyer.
