Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance has attracted many new fans to the NFL. While Taylor Swift might have been trolled last season for being a distraction to the league, it’s hard to ignore that her influence has brought many new fans into the sport. NFL commentator Greg Olsen feels the same.

Olsen was recently interviewed by People, and the former NFL tight end talked about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance. He said it created a whole new NFL fan base, which includes his daughter:

“Obviously, Travis is super gracious with his time and everything, and I think it’s great. There’s a whole new fan base. I mean, I have an 11-year-old daughter, so I get it firsthand.”

NFL Taylor Swift fans, who likely were not interested in American football before, are now developing a significant interest in the sport. Expressing the positive impact of the “All Too Well” singer’s influence, Olsen said:

“I think it’s great for everyone. I think it’s great for the game and the league and yeah, I think there was a lot of fans excited to see the guys.”

Before talking about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship, Greg Olsen detailed the success of the fourth annual Tight End University featuring the Chiefs tight end and George Kittle. Olsen noted that despite the off-field situation, both the tight ends are always focused on the game.

“All these other things off the field and around the game continued to expand for them. And I think a lot of guys struggle with that. I think the two of them understand their priorities and keeping things in that order,” Olsen said.

Brittany Mahomes details Taylor Swift’s influence on football

Just like Greg Olsen, Brittany Mahomes — Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife — feels that Taylor Swift has positively influenced the growing interest of young girls in football. Talking with E! News at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Ring ceremony, the SI model said:

“I love it. I love that it’s getting young girls into football so that they can watch it with their dad.”

Brittany Mahomes acknowledged Taylor Swift’s influence more recently, and Patrick Mahomes made headlines with his take on the “Blank Space” singer last year. During an interview with Time, Patrick Mahomes expressed how the Chiefs have turned into a global team since Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance began.

“Chiefs went from a nationwide team that was kind of global to a full global worldwide team. That came from Taylor’s fanbase. We like having that visibility. At the end of the day, football has always been this bruising sport,” Patrick Mahomes said.

While Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have appreciated Taylor Swift’s impact, the Emmy winner has been criticized by some in the NFL for distracting from the game. However, quarterback Cam Newton dismissed the criticism toward Swift and challenged the league to stop the Chiefs tight end from bringing her to the games.
