Harrison Butker delivered a commencement speech at Benedictine College in May 2024 that sparked controversy. The speech, given by the Kansas City Chiefs kicker, touched on topics such as women’s health, abortion, and gender roles. However, Butker faced criticism for his remarks encouraging women to prioritize their families and emphasizing his Catholic faith.
Butker recently revealed that he has had many conversations related to the matter with his teammates during the training camp. As per PJ Green, the Chiefs star appreciates the support he has received from Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and head coach Andy Reid during this period.
The 29-year-old player is still not backing down from what he said in his speech. Butker asserted that he came from a place of love rather than hate, which many people assumed.
“I stand by what I said… I love women, I love my wife.” said the Chiefs kicker
The three-time Super Bowl champion also mentioned that his wife was crying during his speech at Benedictine College, and he got emotional seeing it.
Although Butker has received a lot of hate from people around the world for what he said, he also received a good amount of support from people who align with his values. Moreover, the fact that his teammates don’t have any issues with him makes everything easier for the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Despite all the controversy around him and people signing petitions to force his team to release him, the Chiefs have made Harrison Butker the highest-paid kicker in the league.
He recently signed a four-year, $25.6 million contract with the Chiefs and was rewarded for his big role in the team’s three Super Bowl wins in the last five years.
Butker is one of the best kickers in the NFL, and without him, the Chiefs might not have had the same success that they have had so far. The leaders of the team, i.e., Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, and Travis Kelce, know his importance, and even though some may not share his views, they recognize his good intentions.
