A young Chapel Hill girl got the thrill of a lifetime while on a family trip to Europe.
It started with surprise tickets to the Taylor Swift concert and ended with her being face-to-face with the superstar on stage.

The family’s videos tell the story of 9-year-old Lucia Hugelmeyer’s dream come true.
Taylor Swift invited young “Swifty” fans to dance near the stage, and Lucia was in the thick of it.
“She was dancing her little heart out,” said Lucia’s mother, Alexis Hugelmeyer. “And that’s where the tour manager saw her dancing – and then picked her out.”
Lucia was brought up on stage to display her moves.
“Oh my gosh! It was magical,” Lucia said. “I felt like it was a dream, like I was sleeping.”
Once the song ended, Lucia was face-to-face with her idol.
“She came up to me and then I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is crazy! I feel like I’m going to faint!'”
Lucia was spell bound and almost speechless.
“I was like, ‘Oh my Gosh, I love you so much! Here’s a bracelet,’ Lucia said. “And exchanged the bracelet for the hat and at that moment, I was like – ‘Oh my gosh!'”
She means Swift’s own “22” hat, which is a black fedora.
The hat is called “22” because Taylor Swift, herself, wears the hat on her album “22,” explained Lucia.
Lucia was living her dream and sharing it with others.
“People online, strangers at the show who were coming up, just genuine excitement and joy – for her to experience that moment,” said her mother. “That’s kind of been the best part. Everyone was just so happy for her.”
Exchanging bracelets with other girls is a very “Swifty” thing to do, and Lucia even lets others try on the “22” hat.
“She also went like ‘mwah!’ when I got the hat on,” Lucia said.
Special credit also goes to Lucia’s older sister who did a great job shooting video of her sister on stage and with Taylor Swift.
Lucia is a born performer. She loves dance and trains at Renner Dance Company in Chapel Hill.
