Caitlin Clark didn’t enjoy the best of outings while shooting the basketball during the 2024 WNBA All-Star game between Team WNBA and Team USA at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday. The Indiana Fever rookie’s poor shooting display was overshadowed by playmaking as she helped Team WNBA to an emphatic 117-109 victory.
Clark got the nod from coach Cheryl Miller to start the game and became only the eighth rookie ever to start an All-Star game. In her All-Star game debut, Caitlin Clark played 26:04 minutes and scored four points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field which gave her a shooting percentage of 25%. The rookie missed all of her six attempts from the 3-point range.
The 22-year-old registered a game-high 10 assists with only two turnovers. Clark grabbed two rebounds and one steal as she finished the game with a +/- of +4. Clark didn’t have any free throw attempts on the night.

The former Iowa superstar received immense support from expectant fans inside a jam-packed Footprint Center. As a starting point guard for Team WNBA, Caitlin Clark orchestrated the team’s offense and set her teammates up with sublime dimes in the first half.
The 22-year-old, however, struggled to score as she missed her first three shots from the field, all of which came from beyond the arc. Clark finally opened her account with a 2-pointer on her 4th attempt from the field but her shooting woes continued as she missed her next two field goal attempts.
Caitlin Clark played the most minutes of any player for Team WNBA in the first half as she clocked 14:23. The rookie scored just two points and shot 1-of-6 from the field, including 0-of-5 from the 3-point range. Clark was exceptional in playmaking and dished out a game-high six assists in the half along with one rebound and a steal.
Caitlin Clark in the 2nd half
Caitlin Clark picked up from where she had left in the first half and continued with her stupendous playmaking. While Clark’s shots refused to go in, the former Iowa superstar impacted the game by making the task easier for her teammates.
While Clark missed her only shot attempt of the 3rd quarter, the rookie delivered three more dimes to secure a huge record. Clark became the rookie with the most assists in an All-Star game.
In the final quarter, Clark managed to score another 2-point bucket while she notched double-digit assists with another dime. The Fever rookie made one of her two shots from the field in the 4th quarter.
