Holly Humberstone, from Grantham, will support Taylor Swift at her Eras Tour gig at Wembley on 16 August

Being chosen to support Taylor Swift at her Wembley concerts is the “hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep”, Holly Humberstone has said.

The singer-songwriter from Grantham will perform in London on 16 August, as part of Swift’s long-running Eras Tour.

Posting on Instagram, Humberstone said she was “eternally grateful” to the US star.

Swift is due to perform for five nights in London. Other support acts will include Paramore, RAYE, Sofie Isella, Maisie Peters and Suki Waterhouse.

Humberstone, 24, wrote on social media: “As if I get to support Taylor at the Eras Tour! Pinch me! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

“I am eternally grateful, what an honour. I have no words. See you soon Wembley.”

The Eras Tour is said to be the biggest grossing music tour of all time

A former violinist for the Lincolnshire Youth Symphony Orchestra, Humberstone turned heads after performing on BBC Radio Lincolnshire in 2017.

She made her debut at the Glastonbury Festival in 2019 and won the Brit Awards’ Rising Star prize two years later.

BBC presenter Dean Jackson, who has followed Humberstone’s career, said the Swift concert was the “next logical step” for the singer, who has supported the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Lewis Capaldi.

“Like any other musician, she’s a massive ‘Swiftie’. So to think she’ll be on stage in front of 90,000 people must have been really hard for her to keep quiet.

He added: “She was 15 when she first uploaded her music to BBC Introducing and we loved what she did instantly. She’s just gone on from there.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is estimated to be highest-grossing music tour of all time, generating an estimated £1.7bn revenue.

She is due to perform a total of 152 concerts in 22 countries and has sold 11 million tickets.
